NAMPS National Executive

We are a group of dedicated Medical Staffing professionals, with too many years of experience to be able to calculate! We volunteer our skills and expertise in order to ensure that new Medical Staffing colleagues are welcomed and provided with a network of specialists across the country to support them, with dedicated training. We aim to support them, each other and to continue to build the medical staffing expertise for the future NHS workforce.

A mentor for NAMPS. The President brings life long experience on issues concerning medical education, personnel practice, workforce planning and their networks.


David is Director of Workforce and Organisational Development at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust. His role is leadership on HR, OD, and Education for the Trust’s 10,000staff across three main hospital sites and over 30 satellite sites. He is also a member of the London Social Partnership Forum working with Trade Unions on NHS workforce issues across the capital. Before joining the NHS in 2004 David worked for the British Medical Association on policy matters and representation of doctors’ interests. David has also worked at national level on medical workforce issues for NHS Employers and is a former chair of its medical workforce forum.

Claire has worked in medical staffing for 15 years first as a Recruitment Officer then as the Assistant Medical Workforce Manager at Norfolk and Norwich hospital. Prior to that worked in the private sector for a children’s activity centre group as a Training Manager and has never lost the interest in training. Claire is currently involved in the Curriculum Advisory Group where we are looking at the content of the training including the generic professional capabilities to support junior doctors assessments and their understanding what is expected of them in line with the recent changes including Shape of Training.”

To provide a comprehensive secretarial support service to the executive.


Currently Head of Medical Workforce at Croydon Health Services NHS Trust and has been in post since October 2007. Sally is a specialist in the field of medical workforce and has worked in the NHS for over two decades with extensive experience across all aspects of human resources including complex employee relations issues; she prides herself in the delivery of compassionate leadership. Sally joined the National Association of Medical Personnel Specialists as the Executive Secretary in November 2016.

Sally has led on the implementation of an electronic locum management solution which is pivotal to financial control of medical spend and governance for the Trust. Sally also leads the overseas recruitment process for medical staff for the Trust.

To produce an informative newsletter which provides a national network for members to disseminate good practice and provide advice and support to members and such other publications and web-based services as are agreed by the Annual General Meeting or the national forum.


After completing a Public Administration degree at what was then Manchester Polytechnic, I started my career in the NHS at UCLH in January 1992 as an Information Assistant.


Since then I have worked at many of the central London teaching trusts undertaking various operational and project based roles covering junior doctors hours, consultant and SAS doctor job planning, clinical excellence awards, revalidation and links with academic organisations.


I am currently leading the Medical Workforce Projects Team at the Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust.

Currently working at Barking Havering and Redbridge University Hospital NHS Trust as a Senior Medical HR Specialist based at Queens Hospital. Maria has worked within the Medical HR since 1996 working in London teaching hospitals therefore gained specialist experience on all aspects of the medical workforce world.


Maria has been part of the National Association of Medical Personnel Specialists since 2002.

Co-ordinates effective development and implements high quality practice and procedures during the organisation of the annual conferences


Nicola’s experience has been within General HR for over 15 years in a number of sectors including private healthcare before joining the NHS back in 2014 where she joined the medical staffing team at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust before moving to Sheffield Children’s Hospital and then moving to Undergraduate Medical Education at Sheffield Health and Social Care.

Nicola’s career has now progressed into operations management where she has returned to Sheffield Children’s Hospital working within the Medicine Division and with clinical teams in the delivery of performance targets including waiting times, patient experience and clinical activity.
